Our work has to start somewhere; and at some point we have to put it out there. In sharing our talents, or the talent we would like to develop, we must share our work so we can take a step toward growth and expansion. Feedback is a critical part of learning what works and what doesn’t.
I recall the first yoga classes I ever taught. I think I taught the exact same sequence every single time. I didn’t understand alignment, and the only instruction I could offer was by placing myself into the position, and instructing that my students do the same. I remember thinking that; someday, I will thank these students for putting up with me; for allowing me to break through the first tumultuous stages of my development as a teacher. I know I’ve come a long way as a teacher, but I appreciate every stage in between. And I really appreciate those first students who stuck with me as I struggled to learn how to teach. In fact, the never-ending process of learning how to teach continues, and each one of my current students is an invaluable part of that process.

I carry a lot of trepidation and doubt as I navigate the terrain and learn to find my own voice, but since I’ve been through this process of learning before, I know that each stage has its benefits. In the meantime, I thank all of my readers for their support and feedback, even during the times when it’s obvious that I have a long way to go.
